Cristina Hoyos es una de las grandes figuras del baile flamenco a nivel mundial. Bailaora, coreógrafa y actriz, su trayectoria ha marcado la historia cultural de España, llevando el arte flamenco a los principales escenarios internacionales. Desde sus inicios en Sevilla hasta convertirse en embajadora universal del flamenco, su carrera está llena de pasión, disciplina y reconocimientos.

Biografía
Cristina Hoyos Panadero, nacida en Sevilla el 13 de junio de 1946. Cuarta hija de Apolinar Hoyos y Cristina Panadero. Con sólo 12 años debuta en el espectáculo infantil Galas Juveniles. Adelita Domingo y Enrique el Cojo destacan como sus maestros de baile. 3 años más tarde de su debut infantil, con 15 años y sin tener la edad para ser profesional debuta en el tablao «El Patio Andaluz» en Sevilla.
Tras su prometedor inicio profesional en España, su debut internacional no se hizo esperar y fue en 1965, cuando cruzó el charco a Estados Unidos para actuar durante 6 meses en el teatro del Pabellón Español de la Feria Mundial de Nueva York.
En 1966 se mudó a Madrid con el fin de comenzar sus estudios de danza y allí compaginó su formación con actuaciones en los tablaos de la capital de España. Tres años después, en 1969, conoce a Antonio Gades, quien la incorpora a su compañía como pareja de baile. Junto a él recorre los mejores teatros del mundo durante dos décadas.
En 1978 es la bailaora principal del Ballet Nacional de España, dirigido por Antonio Gades.
En 1980 protagoniza con Gades la versión cinematográfica de Bodas de sangre de Carlos Saura.
En 1983 participa interpretando su papel en Carmen de Carlos Saura, papel por el que le dieron el premio a la mejor actriz secundaria.
En 1986 protagoniza El Amor brujo del mismo director.
En 1989 protagoniza Montoyas y Tarantos de Vicente Escrivá, película que representó a España en los Oscars de Hollywood.
En 2002 protagoniza la película sobre su vida, Despacito y a compás.
Permaneció junto a Antonio Gades hasta 1988 y un año después debutó con su propia compañía en el Festival de París. Con el montaje Sueños Flamencos, se convirtió el Ballet Cristina Hoyos en la primera compañía de flamenco que actúa en la Ópera de París-Palais Garnier.
En 1992 participa en las ceremonias de apertura y clausura de los Juegos Olímpicos de Barcelona, y actúa en la Exposición universal de Sevilla con Yerma y Lo Flamenco.
En 1996 debuta con Arsa y Toma en la Ópera de Avignon.
En 2002 presenta Tierra adentro en el Teatro Principal de Valencia.
En 2003 la nombran directora del Ballet flamenco de Andalucía y presentan Yerma (2003) Viaje al sur (2005), Romancero Gitano y Poema del Cante Jondo en el Café de chinitas. Estas son solo algunas de las grandes coreografías que llevan su firma.
En 2006 abrió las puertas del Museo del Baile Flamenco, siendo fundadora y directora artística del mismo hasta la actualidad.
Entre los galardones recibidos se encuentran el Premio Nacional de Danza (1991), la Medalla de Oro de Andalucía (1991), la de las Bellas Artes (1992) y dos Premios Max a la Mejor Intérprete Femenina de Danza en los años 2000 y 2004; es Miembro de Honor de la Academia de Artes Escénicas de España y en 2017 fue distinguida como Hija Predilecta de Sevilla.

Cronología y orden temporal de los acontecimientos fundamentales en la vida artística de esta creadora singular
Cristina Hoyos, born on 13th June 1946, daughter of Apolinar Hoyos and Cristina Panadero.
She made her debut at the age of 12 in the children's show Galas Juveniles. Among her teachers were Adelita Domingo and Enrique El Cojo.
Not yet old enough to be a professional, she made her debut in the tablao "El Patio Andaluz" in Seville.
Cristina's debut took place in 1964, in the theatre of the Spanish Pavilion at the New York World's Fair, in the United States.
She began her dance studies with various teachers in Madrid and worked in different tablaos in the capital.
Antonio Gades incorporates her in his company as a dance partner, with whom she remains for 2 decades, until 1988, during which time they tour the best theatres in the world.
Bodas de Sangre opens in Rome. She plays the leading role, that of the Bride.
Prepares with her teacher Enrique el Cojo to perform in Japan
Her performances in Japan are a success.
Performs for 1 year at the tablao "El Flamenco" in Tokyo.
Returns to Japan to perform again on stage.
Under the direction of Antonio Gades, she is the principal flamenco dancer.
It is the first part of the trilogy on flamenco by this director and Cristina Hoyos plays the leading role, that of the "Bride".

For her role, Cristina won the "Best Supporting Actress" award at the 39th edition of the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos medals.
In 1983 "Carmen" was presented in Paris with Cristina Hoyos in the leading role, a role for which she was described as the best Carmen danced to date.

Cristina Hoyos plays the role of "Rosario" in this 7-episode TV series, sharing the screen with Francisco Rabal and Lola Flores, among others.
Debuts with her company "BALLET CRISTINA HOYOS" at the Rex Theatre in Paris, opening the Paris Festival.
Cristina Hoyos played the lead role, playing "María la Taranto". The film was nominated in seven categories, including Best Film, at the IV edition of the Goya Awards in 1990, of which it won two: Best Sound and Best Original Score.
Cristina Hoyos plays "La Molina" in this international co-production Spain-Belgium-France-Switzerland.
