The Cristina Hoyos Flamenco Dance Museum opened the exhibition Flamenco Spark and Fire, by the British artist Ken Maharajah. The collection, very unique, consists of 29 watercolour paintings, a technique difficult to find in the field of flamenco painting, being the first time that the Flamenco Dance Museum exhibits works of this kind. The exhibition will be open until 22 April.
At the opening, the author of the works was present along with personalities such as Cristina Hoyos, founder of the museum, and Joe Cooper, British Consul in Seville. Also in attendance was Antonio Jiménez, manager of Seville Tourism, representing Seville tourism. There was a significant attendance of artists from the museum’s other exhibitions, as well as educational institutions.
The international dimension of the museum’s permanent collection with works by artists from Poland, Italy, the United States, Germany, Korea, Spain, Chile, China, etc., is enriched by the works of Ken Maharajah, the first British artist to exhibit at the Museum of Flamenco Dance. With this exhibition the MBF recognises and honours Ken Maharajah’s efforts to approach flamenco with an original vision.
